A league table summarises what has happened in a competition, but its columns answer different questions. Points show the total earned; matches played help you see whether two clubs have had the same number of opportunities.
Points and matches played
In the usual league scoring system, a win earns three points and a draw earns one. A defeat earns none. The P column shows matches played. A club with a game in hand may change position after playing that fixture.
W, D and L stand for wins, draws and losses. Adding those three figures should give the total number of matches counted.
What is goal difference?
Goal difference is goals scored minus goals conceded. A team that has scored 40 and conceded 25 has a goal difference of +15. It can help separate teams, but does not replace points.
Check the official rules for the current edition to confirm tiebreakers, head-to-head records, disciplinary criteria and any administrative decisions.
Bolanor’s calculated table and the official standings
We calculate the table from final scores published by our source. Teams are ordered by points, wins, goal difference and goals scored. This calculation does not automatically incorporate administrative penalties, every disciplinary criterion or head-to-head tiebreakers.
That is why the table is labelled “calculated standings”. For an official position, check the CBF and the applicable competition rules.
